GREETING CARD COMPANY CEO DIGS NEW NICHE MARKET

The Sincerely, Fido™ Family Portrait Focuses on Four-Legged Kids

AKRON, Oh., May 1, 2008 – At Sincerely, Fido™. -- a pet-oriented greeting card company – owner Lindsay Hunt considers dogs far more than man’s best friend, she considers her pets to be part of the family.  Hunt explained that she and her husband, Kevin, were blessed with their first child on their wedding day. And no, it wasn’t a shotgun wedding. Meatball, an English bulldog puppy, was a wedding gift from Kevin.” But it was also Hunt’s love for pets that almost put a halt to any plans for matrimonial bliss.

“I didn’t like that Kevin constantly left his dog outside. And really, that was a deal-breaker for me,” Hunt confided. “Kevin knew I was really into animals. I was running a pet-sitting service when we met. So he asked me how to get his dog to quit chewing up his deck and destroying it,” she recalled. Never one to mince words Hunt advised, “Don’t leave the poor dog outside.” Hunt’s advice worked and so did the relationship. “I knew he was the ‘one’ when he offered to help me bake dozens of dog biscuits that were a holiday gift for my clients.”

In short order, the Hunt family had grown from Lindsay’s rescued Tabby cat, Dave; an adopted Yellow Lab, Penny; and the new baby, Meatball; to also include her boisterous “stepchild,” Pete – a Quaker parrot who enjoys either intuitively praising the dogs, or scolding them and ordering them to their bedroom.

It would seem that Hunt’s non-traditional family is increasingly becoming the norm. According to a study by the Pew Research Center, Hunt was really on to something with her idea to start Sincerely, Fido. In fact, 85% of dog owners consider their pet to be a family member. And 78% of cat owners agree whole-heartedly with this sentiment.

So what could be more natural that celebrating a pet’s adoption, his birthday, or his graduation from obedience school? If you have a pet celebration, Hunt has a card to recognize it. And she has more than a few you’d never expect – including Howl-o-Ween and Bark Mitzvah greetings. But perhaps most notable is a get well card, expressly for spay or neuter surgery patients. “One thing is for sure,” Hunt remarked, “you won’t find any other greeting cards quite like ours.”
